"Geoinformation Systems" Unitary Enterprise Representatives participated in the first forum of women in science called as "The Role of Women in Science and Education."
On September 25, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted the First Forum of Female Scientists, titled as "The Role of Women in Science and Education." This major event, initiated by the primary organizations of the Belarusian Union of Women at the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the Belarusian State University (BSU), aimed to promote scientific engagement among women and strengthen professional collaboration among female researchers.
Speakers at the plenary session included representatives from the scientific community and government administration: Olga Chupris, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration; Irina Abelskaya, Deputy Chair of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic; Ekaterina Petrutskaya, Deputy Minister of Education; Olga Dubanevich, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Higher Attestation Commission; Academician Emilia Kolomiets; Olga Shpilevskaya, Chair of the Belarusian Union of Women; and others.
In his opening remarks, Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted the unique blend of intellect and beauty present at the Academy. He highlighted that the high proportion of women within the NAS—approximately 50%—clearly demonstrates that the country has established the necessary conditions for individuals to realize their potential in any field, including scientific research. The head of the Academy emphasized the significant contribution women make to the development of both national and global science.
The forum’s breakout sessions covered relevant topics such as biomedicine, biotechnology, digital development, and social sciences, as well as issues concerning young scientists. Alexandra Smagina, a Lead Client Relations Specialist at the Center for Operation of the Belarusian Space System for Earth Remote Sensing (BKSDZ), spoke in the "Digital Universe" session, presenting on the current state and future prospects of Earth remote sensing in the Republic of Belarus.
