Specialists of the "Geoinformation Systems" UE took part in the press conference of the "Republican competition «2025 Digital Economy Leaders"
On August 5, the BELTA press center hosted a press conference entitled "Republican competition «2025 Digital Economy Leaders" as a tool for competitively increasing the efficiency of enterprises and organizations". The studio brought together heads of companies that are leaders in the field of digitalization and digital transformation in the sectors of the Belarusian economy, as well as representatives of the the competition´s expert and supervisory boards.

"Geoinformation Systems" UE won the Grand Prix in the final of the competition in 2024. Scientific Secretary Dmitry Sergeevich Kotov commented on last year’s achievement and new areas of work: “The product with which "Geoinformation Systems" UE received the Grand Prix of 2024 Digital Economy Leaders competition is a completely proprietary development of the enterprise, which was implemented thanks to the "Science-intensive Technologies and Equipment for 2016-2020" state program. This is the MeteoEye service, which uses space information from open meteorological satellites, processes it by means of special mathematical algorithms and delivers it to the consumer. We were little surprised and happy to receive the Grand Prix last year. It is very important for teams working on a product to understand that their work is important and in demand. Moreover, thanks to the competition, you can make a good statement about yourself. “This broad service can analyze both the state of greenhouse gases and the presence of aerosols in clouds. It also analyzes agricultural crops and their yields. However, one of the most basic and promising areas of its development is the identification of so-called thermal anomalies from space. Every year, more than 500 forest fires occur in Belarus. And the MeteoEye service helps the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and ordinary users, to see thermal anomalies, thermal spots where fires are possible" - noted the scientific secretary.

According to him, thanks to this service, about 10% of forest fires have been detected, which is a very good result. "In this direction, we will continue to develop this service and cooperate with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Belhydromet. This service is also available to ordinary users. Just the delay in providing data on the Internet is slightly greater than for the agencies that respond to emergency situations" - explained Dmitry Kotov.
